How to Finish the Year Off Strong

It’s been a long journey, with tons of ups and downs, but I have finally made it to the end of the school year. I have worked on my original work project and final presentation for over forty hours over the past few months, and I have come up with a final product that I am happy with. I’m glad I was able to keep going and finish the year off strong because the sense of accomplishment I feel is honestly incomparable to the feeling of finishing my AP exams and end of the year tests. I’m proud of making it to the end of the year.

I’ve spent the past two weeks finishing up my original work, by writing the last few sections, writing a conclusion and abstract, finishing my bibliography, and adding images. I was able to finish my paper before meeting with my mentor on the day it was due, and the main suggestion he made for me to make before I submit was to properly cite my images. I was able to complete this before submitting.

The rest of the week I spent working on my presentation for my final presentation rehearsal in class on Friday. It was difficult to manage my time between studying for the AP exams I had on Thursday and Friday and preparing for my presentation, but I was able to deliver a presentation that I’m happy with, and managed to feel good about my US History exam on Thursday. My chemistry exam on Friday was a different story, but I choose to associate Friday with the positive comments and feedback I received from my classmates and Mr. Pirtle rather than with the disastrous AP Chemistry exam. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made with my presentation and professionalism skills over the course of the year, and I think that is evident in my final presentation. This coming week I will be adding finishing touches to my presentation to bring it up to 20-25 minutes in preparation for the final presentation night.

My ISM I journey has come to an end, and I’m glad I’ve finished the school year, but I’m gonna miss it. I’m glad I will be taking ISM again next year and will continue to conduct research and create another project. I’m looking forward to the future and am anticipating great things.
