How to Write a Research Paper

At this point, it’s been two weeks since I’ve started writing my final original work research paper. So far, I’ve completed the introduction, wood, and concrete sections of my report - looking into the environmental impacts of each material and the alternatives that I’ve researched. This week, I plan to complete the steel section, which I’ve already started working on, and the transportation and production section. I hope to have finished my conclusion and have my report mostly finished by the end of the weekend, so that I can have a final report to share with my mentor on Monday. I’ll be meeting with my mentor that day, and I’ll go over my paper with him briefly to ensure that I’ve met his expectations before I send him a final copy with the mentor feedback form at the end of the day.
As I wrap up my report, I will also have to work on my script for my in-class final presentation. I hope to create a slideshow with visuals pertaining to my research and my experiences in ISM this year. My presentation will be next Friday, and I’m planning on spending about five minutes of my 13 minute presentation discussing my original work and the research on sustainability that I’ve conducted. I’ll spend the rest of the time discussing my year as a whole and how I’ve changed throughout the duration of this course.
The end of the year is fast approaching, and though I’m sad to see it go, I’m excited to finish my original work and the progress I’ve made this year before heading off to celebrate my hard work during summer vacation.
