How to Give a Presentation

The stress of the past week has slowed my progress in ISM. I’m taking some pretty difficult and loaded classes in addition to ISM, and it seems like they have decided to be very overwhelming, all in the same week. The presidential election last week definitely did not help - I spent a considerable amount of time checking election results, and was constantly distracted. I wasn’t feeling too great last week, and as a result, I felt that it wasn’t a good idea for me to schedule any interviews, so I spent most of my time working on ISM on my Quick Trip presentation.
I created my Quick Trip presentation on a topic I was passionate about - Taylor Swift. I had a creative idea to take the class on a trip through a song. My hope was to use that passion to create an energetic and invigorating presentation. I definitely used a lot of energy and had a pretty good tone, but I think I could’ve worked on my speech more. I was relying on my script a lot - I still get pretty nervous in class, and I know I was distracted by all that I had to do last week. Some of the notes my classmates gave me reflected my thoughts on my own presentation - my classmates noted that I was reading off a script, I fumbled and stuttered, I wasn’t maintaining eye contact, and I had a couple awkward pauses and repetition. Most of these problems can be solved with more practice and confidence, and I know these are things I can work on and I can improve. The idea was there for my presentation, but the execution was not.
This week should hopefully be a little less stressful than last week, so I’m hoping that I will be able to schedule the two interviews this week that I was hoping to schedule last week. I’m expecting these to be my last two interviews. I’m looking forward to having a better week this week!
