As an aspiring young professional pursuing civil engineering, there's a lot I need to learn, and my journey has just started. I'm excited to learn and grow as a person in the coming months!
This past week, I spent some time thinking about my chosen career path while writing up my topic proposal. I spent a considerable amount of time analyzing my personality profile and looking into career paths that matched my profile. I was pleased to see that some aspects of my personality, like my communication skills, creativity, observance, and practicality matched my chosen path of civil engineering. This has made me a bit more confident in my career choice - as I do more research, I'm beginning to feel more and more that I'm on the right track. Some traits linked to my personality were a little bit of a poor fit, but I'm sure that the future will bring me ways to combat these weaknesses in my career.
I've also worked on my professionalism this week. I know I've always had a bit of trouble staying serious and confident, but I've been looking over my interview questions and practicing professionalism. I know that it's important to be confident, not only in your words, but in your body language as well. Maintaining eye contact, having good posture, and smiling can go a long way in terms of appearing professional, and I've been working on these traits for the past week. In the future, I hope to apply these traits in real life, when speaking to a professional.
This coming week, I'm going to continue working on professionalism, by developing answers to my own interview questions and practicing them. I hope to become confident in my speaking and interview skills through practice and determination.
